Cross the Bidasoa, river border between France and Spain: the boat ride on the Marie-Louise, from the Hendaye marina takes you to Hondarribia, picturesque fishing village. The “topo” (Euskotren) from the Hendaye station, takes you to St Sebastian (Donostia), European Capital of Culture 2016, a shower of stars in the Michelin Restaurant Guide, pearl of the Cantabrian, its shell-shaped bay, the La Concha Beach, the Aquarium, Mount Igueldo, the “old quarter”. The festivities are legion, the giant Jazz concert on the beach late July, the “Great Week” mid-August with concerts, parades, and especially an international fireworks competition bringing together worldwide pyrotechnist and finally, the International Film Festival in September. The San Fermin festival and the running of the bulls through the streets of the city of Pamplona in early July, are known worldwide. The country is proudly represented by Bilbao and the Guggenheim Museum.
