Have you been dreaming of trying your hand at surfing or taking a dip in the sea before everyone else thanks to the mild temperatures in this corner of New Aquitaine?
Our beachfront campsite in the Basque Country is the best place to take advantage of the surrounding maritime microclimate. Alternate between tanning in the sun and a refreshing breeze in the shade of a parasol to make the most of your vacation.
A 10-minute walk to the beach also means you can marvel at the sunset over the sea, which is then decked out in a thousand colors. And if you’d like to go for a swim without leaving the campsite, that’s also possible at our campsite in the Basque country with swimming pool!
During your seaside vacation in Hendaye, you can go scuba diving, take the shuttle to Fontarrabie, hire a boat or surf the waves at Hendaye Plage.
The most beautiful beaches near the campsite
The most beautiful sandy beaches in the Basque Country are close to the campsite. Here’s our selection:
- Plage d’Hendaye: This spacious beach on the Basque coast stretches for 3 km and offers supervised bathing in top-quality water. Make yourself comfortable by renting a deckchair and a tent to enjoy a little shade in the height of the southern heat. Relax while your children compete in sandcastle contests.
- Fontarrabie beach: The large, supervised beach at Fontarrabie or Hondarribia stretches for 700 m. The sea is peaceful. Practical, it is equipped with showers and WCs and offers water sports equipment for hire (canoeing, windsurfing, etc.). A pay parking lot makes it easy to park your car while you relax.
- Plage de Socoa: Close to the mouth of the Untxin river, this sandy beach is located in the village of Ciboure, opposite the Socoa Fort. Ideal for the whole family, it is supervised and offers a handiplage service. If you’re looking for a bite to eat after a swim, you’ll find restaurants right on the harbor.
- Grande Plage de Saint-Jean-de-Luz: This family beach par excellence is at the very heart of the seaside resort of Saint-Jean-de-Luz, protected by dykes. It is supervised in summer. There’s something for everyone, from beach clubs to water sports (water skiing, stand-up paddle, etc.). Those who prefer to relax will enjoy the view of Ciboure, Socoa and the pretty Basque houses to the south.
